Walthamstow is an established club and in fact it celebrated its Centenary in 2001.

In the past there were Junior and Womens sections, but now it is mainly a Men’s club. Although, the Club has some very talented athletes, the emphasis at Walthamstow AC, is to enjoy your sport in a very friendly atmosphere. The club takes part in Track and Field, cross- country & road running.

Track & Field

Walthamstow AC enter graded meets at various tracks during the summer. Most are mid-week.

Cross-country & Road Running

Walthamstow AC compete in the Chingford League, which runs from September to April. Eight matches are held at various venues, in North East London. There is road-running on the Cycle Track at Eastway, which takes place on a Tuesday evening, and there is cross-country at various venues, and one Relay Race. These races are open to any Club Member, with their points included in the team scores. The Club also competes in the Assembly League, a summer midweek road race series.

Other Events

The club enters teams in various other events around East London and Essex, including County and Area Championships. Individuals also compete in advertised races.

Social Events

We are a very sociable club, with members usually enjoying after-match drinks. From time to time Social Events are arranged, in particular at Christmas.

Training

Training sessions are held throughout the year, but obviously vary depending on the season. Normally there are sessions at the Waltham Forest Athletic Track on Tuesday  evenings (7.30) and others are arranged most weekends. Further details may be obtain from Clive Ridley (01992 812147). The Club also meets every Wednesday at the Walthamstow Cricket & Tennis Club at 7.30pm (just off Wood Street).

Officials & volunteers

The club has regular volunteers, but Club members are expected to help out at matches if they are not competing. They are particularly needed when the Club is hosting a Home match.

Membership & Subscriptions

If you wish to join the club you should complete the enclosed Membership form, and send it to the Secretary with a cheque payable to Walthamstow AC for your subscription. The current rates are Seniors (over19) £20.00 Juniors £10.00 and should be paid by 1^st April each year.
